Saka claims credit for Rice signing as £72m flop handed transfer lifeline
After starting the Premier League season with 10 points from four games, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will now be anxious with a number of stars on international duty.
The likes of Ballon d'Or winner Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice, and Eddie Nketiah are all in the England squad for the games with Ukraine and Scotland. The Spanish boss also has a host of other Gunners trying to help their national sides qualify for Euro 2024.
But the club will also be using the break in domestic action to finish their transfer window business. Arsenal got their own spending done early, and the windows in England and most notably Saudi Arabia have now closed - but player sales to Turkey remain possible until September 15.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has revealed how he played a big part in persuading Declan Rice to join the Gunners this summer.

Regarding the £105 million switch, he told talkSPORT: "Obviously he’d ask a few questions and I’d answer them, but yeah, I’d just try to give him the reassurance that he’d be coming to the right club and that the future is exciting for us. If he joined us, he’d make us better and that yeah, we can definitely achieve things."
As for his new teammate's injury time goal against Man United on Sunday, he added: “That was amazing, I think I’ve watched his goal back 20 times."
Arteta up for August award

(AP)Following the Community Shield win over Man City, Arteta has overseen a run of three wins and a draw, with the 2-2 result with Fulham the only blip. It's given fans renewed hope that the north London side can again challenge for the title this season.
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola is also nominated after the champions won their opening four games. Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, David Moyes of West Ham United and new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou are also in the frame.
Pepe turns attention to Turkey
Arsenal are still hoping to offload £72million signing Nicolas Pepe despite previously considering terminating his contract.
Mikel Arteta has reportedly told the Ivorian international he's played his last game for Arsenal, but despite being heavily linked to a move to Saudi Arabia a move did not materialise on Thursday's deadline day. According to French media outlet Foot Mercato though, the winger has not turned his attention to sorting a deal with Trabzonspor.
The transfer window in Turkey does not close until September 15. But both parties are in negotiations, with the 28-year-old , who spent last season on loan at Nice, hopeful a deal can be reached.
