Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's dream of a Malibu family home could be closer than originally thought after it was revealed that they viewed a lavish estate over the weekend.

The couple, who were reported to have been eyeing up a move to Malibu earlier this summer, are now said to have taken a huge step in their house-hunting mission. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly eyeing up a plush $8million (£6.4m) plot of land close to Hollywood and situated in Malibu, with them having viewed the estate, which boasts of being six acres and having a 10,000 square foot mansion that will cost $10million (£8m) to erect in the works, very recently.

Harry and his former Suits actress wife Meghan, whom he became engaged to back in 2017 before getting hitched in 2018, reportedly viewed the estate over the Labor Day weekend, according to sources who recently spoke to American outlet TMZ.

The sprawling estate, which looks rather muddy and desolate at the moment, not only boasts of having a very large outdoor space and the plans to create a huge indoor space in the form of a very modern mansion, but it has a swimming pool too, which can be seen in recent snaps of the site.

Reports also claim that the land has a ready-built guard house, seating terrace and fire pit, and should the couple decide to erect the 10,000 square foot mansion that has been planned for the site, it could cost them an additional $10million (£8m), as per various reports.

The Royal couple, who stepped down from their duties as senior members of the British Royal Family in January 2020, have resided in their nine-bedroom Montecito mansions for more than three years. The $14million (£11.2m) mansion that they currently live in with their son Archie and daughter Lilibet has an abundance of rose gardens, a tennis court, a chicken coop, a pool, and a guesthouse.

The lavish neighbourhood in Montecito is filled with famous faces like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Katy Perry. Meghan even frequents the Farmer's Market, with her seen there earlier this summer when she bought some flowers and wandered around.
