Strictly's Anton Du Beke slams ‘pathetic’ spoilers as 2023 pairings leaked
Anton Du Beke says it's time to put a stop to all Strictly Come Dancing spoilers after the latest online leak to hit the show ahead of curtain up in a few weeks.
The BBC have done all they can to prevent this year's couples being made public before the official announcement, stressing the importance of confidentiality to all contestants and their friends and families. But that hasn't stopped some accounts on social media plastering the news on twitter.
Every series, producers face a losing battle to try and keep the name of the star to leave the show a secret. The first few months are all filmed on a Saturday, which means those in the audience know who has gone 24 hours before the rest of the British public. Some accounts run with the spoilers thanks to the insiders, infuriating execs and other viewers who come across the news while scrolling.
The Strictly Come Dancing judge is not happy (Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)As always, in an attempt to protect the show, Mirror Online won't be sharing who will be paired but it is fair to say Anton is not happy and wants those who are finding out the information to keep a lid on it and stop wrecking things for others. Viewers will find out which stars and professional dancers have joined forces next weekend.
"‘That irritates me. I get irritated. I hate anybody who’s a spoiler," he told Metro.co.uk with the battle for the Glitterball Trophy about to begin. "I can only think they take great pleasure from it and I just want to say grow up. Don’t spoil it for other people. Everybody knows what the show is.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likeness
"It’s a live show where people at home vote for who they want to keep in, and then we do the results show afterwards, and then on the following evening, the results show is aired and then we see who’s been voted off. It’s not necessary for anybody to tell people the results of that show before they happen, because it’s only tomorrow night – it’s not next week."
Show bosses are reportedly still looking for the mole leaking exit spoilers online, with an insider indicating it has been the "same person" for years. A source previously told The Sun: "For years, the audience didn’t twig the Sunday show was pre-recorded, but recently results have been leaked, spoiling the suspense. Those running the show want to find out who is leaking and fast. What’s really baffling them is that it must be the same person."
Amongst the 2023 line-up is TV presenters Angela Scanlon and Nikita Kanda and fan-favourite EastEnders star Bobby Brazier. Also in this year's show is actresses Ellie Leach and Amanda Abbington and Family Fortunes presenter Les Dennis.
Paralympian Jody Cundy, well-known news readers Angela Rippon and Krishnan Guru-Murthy and tennis sporting star Annabel Croft is also amongst stars, including Love Island's Zara McDermott and actors Layton Williams, Nigel Harman and Adam Thomas.
