King Charles III ascended the throne nearly one year ago, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022 - and we want to know what you think.

In his first 12 months as monarch, Charles has worked a total of 161 days of official engagements, which is four more than his mother did after her accession in 1952. The PA news agency revealed that he made trips to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales within eight days of becoming King, and marked his first year with visits across the country, including York, Wrexham, Manchester, Armagh, Selkirk and St Ives.

The data also shows that Charles is recorded as having 26 official audiences with UK Prime Ministers during his reign, including five with Liz Truss and 21 with Rishi Sunak. He made two trips abroad over the last year, a visit to Germany in March and a private trip to Romania in June.

It appears His Majesty is eager to continue the heavy workload, as Charles recently summoned Prince William to a private summit to thrash out plans for the next year, filing his diary with engagements around the country. The King also has a State Visit to France planned and will mark his first tour of the Commonwealth with a visit to Kenya in the autumn.

Since taking up his royal duties, Charles has wanted to have fewer working royals carrying out engagements and supporting the monarchy. Too many faces on the Buckingham Palace balcony has often been criticised, with the King acutely aware of how much the monarchy needed to evolve in order to survive.

However, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as working royals and Prince Andrew forced to quit public life, numbers are already low. With seven of the 11 working royals being over the age of 70, the monarchy as it now exists may have trouble ahead.

According to a recent YouGov survey, 59 percent of Brits think the King is doing a good job, compared to only 17 percent who say he is doing a bad job. Around 60 percent have a favourable view of Charles one year into his reign, compared to 32 percent who have a negative view.
