Arsenal's Ramsdale nominated for prestigious award alongside Onana
Four Premier League goalkeepers have been nominated for the 2023 Yachine Trophy - including Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale and Manchester United's Andre Onana.
The award, which is named after former Soviet Union shot-stopper Lev Yashin, was first established four years ago and is presented annually to the best performing goalkeeper. Thibaut Courtois is the current holder of the trophy after beating competition from Alisson and Ederson, who finished second and third respectively a year ago.
The Real Madrid 'keeper could once again come out on top, meanwhile, following his latest nomination. For the 2023 prize, Courtois has been selected alongside four Premier League goalkeepers, with Ramsdale, Onana, Emiliano Martinez and Ederson all on the 10-man list.
Mike Maignan, Brice Samba, Dominik Livakovic, Yassine Bounou and Marc Andre Ter Stegen make up the nominees for the prestigious trophy. The winner of the 2023 Yachine Trophy will be announced on Monday 30th October at the award ceremony in Paris' Theatre du Chatelet.
Ramsdale is among the nominees for the first time after the 25-year-old impressed for Arsenal last season. He kept 14 clean sheets in 38 Premier League appearances, with only David de Gea having more (17). After the news broke, the ex-Sheffield United man tweeted: "Incredible feeling to receive a nomination of this magnitude one which I will remember for a long long time!"
