Prince Harry's solo Netflix docuseries flops but he's still 'proud', says expert

Prince Harry has failed to make it into the Top 10 chart on Netflix with his new show Heart of Invictus, with one expert suggesting it was "never going to happen".

The Duke of Sussex released his brand new series last Wednesday and it received mixed reviews. The five-part series, which was created in collaboration between Netflix and Archewell Productions, follows a group of competitors in training for last year's Invictus Games.

Harry set up the Paralympic-style sporting competition in 2014 to help injured and sick military personnel and veterans. Despite the touching nature of the documentary, it's missed out on a top spot in Netflix's charts.

Instead, shows such as One Piece and Derry Girls have found themselves in the Top 10. PR expert Mayah Riaz suggested it was never Harry's intention to create a chart-topping show.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Mayah said: "Heart of Invictus is a project close to Prince Harry. He was making it to raise awareness of a cause close to his heart and not for the ratings.

"If people expected it to do as "well" as his docu-series, that just was never going to happen." However, she said people can't fully rely on things like Top 10 charts as indicators of success.

The PR to the stars said: "Just because it did not hit the Top 10 on Netflix does not mean it failed or no one watched it. Nor does it mean his future with Netflix is in question.

"Heart of Invictus is there for people to view long after the release. I'm sure Harry and those featured in the show are still very much proud of it."

Heart of Invictus was created as part of Harry and his wife Meghan Markle's exclusive deal with Netflix. The couple were recently surrounded by rumours that their partnership with the platform was at risk, but a spokesperson for Netflix shut down the speculation.

In a statement, they said: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date. Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon."
