Thomas Tuchel is leaving Bayern Munich bosses ‘irritated’ with his complaints on the club’s transfers just weeks into the new season.
The reigning Bundesliga champions have enjoyed a productive start to the 2023/24 campaign as they attempt to defend their title again. They sit second behind early pace setters Bayer Leverkusen after winning each of their opening three matches.
However, former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss Tuchel does not seem particularly pleased off the pitch at the very least. The German coach reportedly displayed ‘erratic’ behaviour during the transfer window, something that has continued after last week's deadline with a series of public demands and statements.
Speaking after the recent 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, he said: “The squad is a bit thin, a bit small. We have six trained defensive players for a four-man chain, which is perfect.”
Those comments are said to have caused 'total incomprehension’ among club figures. Another particular frustration that Bayern bosses have pointed out appears to be a difference of opinion as to the club’s priority in the window.

According to Bild, Tuchel was desperate to add another midfielder to his squad following the arrival of Konrad Laimer from domestic rivals RB Leipzig. He was very keen to sign England star Declan Rice from West Ham - only for the midfielder to seal a then British record transfer to Arsenal. Bayern bosses were not overly convinced and instead put Tottenham striker Harry Kane at the top of their shopping list.

The forward eventually completed a £100m move to the Allianz Arena. He has scored three goals across his first four appearances for Bayern since then but Tuchel complained at a lack of service for the striker last time out.
“It’s just a question of games,” Tuchel said. “We had a couple of situations where we overlooked him. But that’s just a question of games and training situations.
“Harry has top quality and the players around him will try to put him in finishing position. And then he will do what he always does: score goals.”
Whilst Tuchel is far from disappointed with the acquisition of Kane, his mood will not likely have improved following an horrendous deadline day. The German side were interested in three signings on the final day of the window.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Southampton star Armel Bella-Kotchap were both linked with moves to Bavaria but transfers did not materialise. Bayern were on the verge of signing Fulham midfielder Palhinha, bosses bowing to Tuchel’s demands for a more natural defensive midfielder.
However, the deal was not completed in time despite the Portuguese travelling to Munich for a medical and undergoing his club media commitments in anticipation of a move.
