A shaken mother has warned other parents about potential danger, saying they shouldn't allow their kids to ride the escalator while wearing Crocs. Posting online, Olivia said she went on an escalator with her daughter, who was sporting a pink pair of the popular shoe. When they reached the halfway point, her daughter’s Croc got snared in the side of the escalator, narrowly avoiding a terrible injury.

Olivia also shared pictures of the shoe after the accident - with the entire toe section having been violently ripped from the rest of it. While thankfully her child was okay, her mother was terrified during the ordeal and has used the experience to warn others.

"Today my daughter's crock [sic] got trapped in the side of the escalator halfway up," she wrote on Facebook. "Thankfully I got her foot out straight away. Apparently was a 'freak accident' but just want to warn others to keep their children away from the sides."

People were quick to offer their support, with many sharing similar experiences that they've had. "Same thing happened to my son last week at Universal," one mother shared. "This happened to me when I was a child, my lace got stuck at the top," a third recalled. My dad struggled to free it, had to press the emergency stop button. I've never forgotten it, I get very wary on them, especially with my own children," another commented. "Two weeks ago my daughter broke her ankle on one," a fourth shared. A third added: "Omg Glad your daughter is ok, that's terrifying."

Other parents said they would warn their own children, with one person saying this can also happen with wellies. Others pointed out that newer escalators have signs on the top that say 'No Crocs' to avoid similar accidents happening. "Did you know that at Disney World they do not allow Crocs on escalators for this very reason? Doesn't mean people don't wear them, but it's a thing."

As the commenters said, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Earlier this year, Emma Harris was taking her young daughter shopping in Trafford Centre, and on their way up an escalator in Primark, her child's shoe got caught. Her daughter let out a "panicked" shriek and while she was thankfully freed, it nearly caused the girl "life-changing" injuries.
