Phones are handy gadgets stored with countless apps and features to help us in our daily lives - whether it's a feature to help us take better pictures or to store our notes. But sadly, some people may not know about a phone's important safety features. One woman is desperate for other women to know about one she's discovered.

It's a sad reality that women are on high alert while walking alone at night, but knowing this feature exists could help protect you in dangerous situations. The TikToker, appearing on a recent podcast episode, revealed the little-known feature that instantly connects people to emergency services and your emergency contacts. She said: "I just showed some people in my life that didn't know about the click five times on your iPhone's power button."

But when the host said she knew nothing about the phone feature - the social media influencer explained: "I'm constantly scared about being kidnapped, I will constantly talk about this throughout the episode. But like getting kidnapped is my biggest fear. So if you have an iPhone and you click the power button five times it goes into an emergency response system. If you don't press cancel, it automatically calls emergency services."

iPhone users should rapidly press the top side button five times to access SOS Emergency Call. This feature calls 911 and shares your location information with emergency services and contacts. Apple announced the Emergency SOS feature last year, which allows its iPhone 14 users to send text messages in the event of an emergency without being connected to Wi-Fi.

Under the comments section, some people revealed they would accidentally press their iPhone's power button without meaning to, particularly when trying to switch off their alarms in the morning. One person wrote: "I did this trying to off my alarm one time and uh yeah the cops were called and showed up at my dads at 6am." A second person added: "I did this when I was trying to snooze my alarm."

Some said that Android devices also have an emergency call feature. A user penned: "Android does this too but it's 3 clicks record voice for like a minute take rapid photos both front and back camera and pins location."
