It can be all too easy to overlook the fact that you need to clean your oven, but the likelihood is that it needs a good scrub. But before you reach for the chemical oven cleaner, there may be something a lot more natural you can use to make your appliance gleam once more, making it look as good as new.

A TikTok cleaner who posts under the username 'Additive-Free Lifestyle' shared a video recommending that people make a "simple swap" to lemons from oven cleaner, referring to it as "toxic stuff from the shops" and admitting that she did before she "knew better."

In the caption of the video, she wrote: "2-3 lemons chopped up. Place into a casserole dish and top with water. Cook in oven, 200C, for 30 mins. Turn the oven off and either leave the door closed to cool down or open the door and allow everything to cool down (including lemons and the water).

"Then give the doors and walls a little scrub (use a bit of the lemon water if you have to) and wipe away. With the stubborn areas and racks I rubbed over the cooked lemon and then it easily scrubbed off." She then guaranteed people that they'd be "blown away" by the effectiveness of the cleaning hack.

In the video, the glass can be seen looking a whole lot cleaner thanks to the lemons, which can be purchased for just £1.20 from Tesco, meaning that if you use two, it costs just 60p. The amount of dirt and grime that came off was impressive.

"Such a great idea and much safer than toxic chemicals", someone praised. Another suggested that rubbing a lemon over the door and then "wiping" also worked. "Will give this a go - it works wonders in the microwave", a TikToker praised.
