Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott’s boyfriend Sam Thompson has revealed he is planning to get down on one knee soon.
The Made In Chelsea favourite, 31, says marriage is definitely on the cards after his relationship with former Love Island beauty Zara, 26, has gone strength to strength after a brief split in 2020.
Sam and Zara got together in May 2019 when Zara slid into DMs after breaking up with Geordie lothario and Love Island and Celebs Go Dating star Adam Collard. The smitten pair made their relationship Instagram official a month later.
But the sweethearts split in September 2020 for four months after it emerged Zara had cheated after appearing on Celebrity X Factor. Luckily for Zara, Sam was able to forgive her misdemeanour after she issued a grovelling public apology.
Admitting she had “messed up” the then 23-year-old wrote a public letter to Sam at the time saying: “A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head on. I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature.

"I believe I have learnt so much from my mistake. I want to apologise to my Sam for everything I have put him through, for the pain, the embarrassment, the anger and the hurt. All I want to do is make this right and I think the least he deserves is me being honest with myself and all of you.”

And as long as Zara doesn’t fall victim to the ‘Strictly curse’ when she appears on the upcoming season of the BBC dance show, due to kick off on Saturday September 23, she should be expecting a proposal soon.
Sam told The Sun: “I need to get the engagement sorted, but I don’t know when that would be. She [Zara] is filming two documentaries, she has Strictly coming up and so much on her plate. I am so proud of her.”

A source told OK! magazine: “They broke up because of it, but have claimed to be super strong ever since. Sam is massively dreading history repeating itself and the Strictly curse is definitely playing on his mind. She is getting hotter by the minute and she’s likely to be a huge favourite.”
After revealing the news she was going to be on the BBC show, Sam showed his support for Zara by posting on Instagram: “Go on Goose! [his nickname for her] The news is out! So damn excited for this journey. I’ll be coming down [each week] with a placard. And I’m going to bring Pete [Wicks]. Pete, me, you, the whole squad. We’re so proud of you.”
And it seems Zara is hoping the BBC stand up and take notice of her as she recently shared her dream job would be to present The One Show, after having made several documentaries with the channel in the past few years on hard-hitting topics such as revenge porn, ‘rape culture’ and disordered eating.
