Jeremy Clarkson slams Prince Harry's anger at media over military coverage

Jeremy Clarkson hit out at Prince Harry after the royal claimed the media "did not cover" stories of British soldiers being injured in Afghanistan.

Prince Harry opened up about his anger at the media in his recent Heart of Invictus documentary and said they didn't cover the pain and efforts the British soldiers went through. In the same documentary, he recalled seeing three bodies 'left in pieces' while working on the frontline over 10 years ago.

The Clarkson's Farm star, who is known for voicing his controversial thoughts on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, slammed Harry's recollections and also revealed he and the prince once snuck into a military awards night.

"I’m rather startled to hear that he thinks the British media 'did not cover' the plight of soldiers who’d been blown up or killed," Jeremy said. "Because that’s not how I remember it at all..." Jeremy went on to provide examples of media coverage from the time Harry was working on the frontline.

Jeremy went on to write: "Every newspaper was filled for months and years with news of the death and the injuries. I know that Harry has a problem with the media. He’s got it into his head that it’s the root of all evil. But he’s obviously letting this rage cloud his judgment."

After slamming Prince Harry, Jeremy went on to reminisce about the time the duo 'snuck backstage' at The Millies - a military awards night organised by The Sun. "I’m amazed Prince Harry doesn’t remember this because I distinctly recall, one year, sneaking backstage with him before the evening began for a crafty fag," he continued.

Although the former Top Gear host doesn't agree with Harry and his actions 'these days', he praised the father-of-two for his role in creating the Invictus Games. The Duke of Sussex released his brand new documentary earlier this week, with the programme following former military servicemen and women on their road to the Invictus Games, something Harry set up in 2014 for injured and sick military personnel and veterans.

In the second of five episodes, several of the former service personnel discuss the mental toll of war with Harry also being asked about how his tours of Afghanistan affected him. He revealed he "didn't have that support structure, that network or that expert advice to identify actually what was going on with me" after admitting he was angry when he returned from a tour of duty.

The Duke of Sussex also said that returning from Afghanistan triggered unresolved trauma caused by the tragic death of his mother Diana in 1997, when Harry was just 12 - and that he only considered therapy once he was left "lying on the floor in the foetal position."
