Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho will wear the number 17 shirt this season.

When United announced their provisional squad numbers last month, they noted that there would be changes after the transfer window closed and name checked Garnacho along with new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund is yet to be given a number as he was carrying an injury when he joined from Atalanta and has now made his debut, while it was stated that Garnacho would start the season with his existing number 49 "with the possibility of change after the transfer window closes when it will be clear which other numbers in the squad are vacant".

And Garnacho's brother Roberto has now seemingly confirmed the winger will take the number 17 shirt, which was vacated by Fred's move to Fenerbahce. Roberto posted an image on social media of himself and his brother wearing United shirts with "Garnacho 17" on the back.

The winger had been hoping to get the number 7 shirt, but that was given to new signing Mason Mount and he has had to settle for 17 instead. Cristiano Ronaldo is Garnacho's idol and he previously wore number 17 when he first broke into Portugal's national team.

And fans will also find out Hojlund's shirt number in due course, with the 20-year-old striker ready to make his debut against Arsenal this weekend. "We had a good training week and on Saturday we have the final training," United boss Erik ten Hag said.

"He's doing well so he will be available. I think he's ready to start. For every player there is a big spotlight. At Manchester United you have to perform, in every position, for every player."

Ten Hag also confirmed the signing of Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham, with the left-back becoming United's second deadline day signing after goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. "He is here, he trained, yes," Ten hag said when asked about Reguilon.

"To play on Sunday? Potentially, yes. He is a very experienced player, he's played for big clubs, played a lot of games in La Liga and the Premier League. So he has a very good background and can play very intense football, so we are happy.

"We had a problem withLuke Shawinjured and Tyrell Malacia injured, so we covered it very well in an emergency situation. I think we've done good business, we constructed a strong squad and we're ready for the fight."
