EastEnders fire theories - Sad death, scam twist and injured characters 'sealed'
EastEnders is set for fiery scenes this autumn, with it reported that iconic Albert Square venue Kathy's café will be destroyed by a deadly blaze.
Reports claim characters could be left in serious danger as a fire spreads through the building in dramatic scenes. No details have been confirmed by the BBC soap about the shocking storyline or what happens.
What has been teased is that some fan favourites could be left fighting for their lives, with huge repercussions in the fallout. It's also teased questions will be raised as to what or who causes the fire, with it tipped to be deliberate.
So who will spark the blaze and why, and does anyone die? What twists and turns lie ahead as Walford goes up in flames? Here's all the theories surrounding the major soap twist...
EastEnders is set for fiery scenes this autumn, with it reported that iconic Albert Square venue Kathy's café will be destroyed (BBC)Shock death?
A big stunt in soap land often comes with a shocking death. Two characters are known to be leaving the soap in the coming months, so could one of them meet a gruesome fate? Karen Taylor is teased to be leaving later this year, with it confirmed she has been axed from the BBC soap after six years.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likeness
Her exit plot has not been confirmed but fans are fearing she will be killed off. Might she end up dying in the blaze? The other character known to be leaving is Whitney Dean, while reports claim she will exit early next year. Of course sources could be throwing us all off the scent and maybe she does die! Perhaps someone yet to be confirmed to be leaving dies, while there's also a chance that no deaths will actually air.
Injured characters
It's been teased that more than one character could be trapped in the blaze, and that some familiar faces will be left fighting for their lives. Nothing has been confirmed by the BBC soap, but the usual faces in the café include Kathy Beale, Rocky Cotton, Bernadette Taylor and most of the residents in Walford. Cindy and Ian Beale are back now too, so it really could be anyone.
Who causes the fire and why?
It's been teased the fire will be deliberate (BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)It's been teased the fire will be deliberate, and that someone is to blame. Even if it ends up being an accident, surely someone will have caused it in some way or another. Amid Ian planning on going into business with Nish Panesar, with a little help from Cindy, will it all go terribly wrong?
Nish has already shown he's not someone to get on the wrong side of, so could he or one of the Panesars torch the café in a revenge twist if they end up falling out? Or perhaps Cindy or Ian might set fire to the place and pin it on someone like Nish, or Ian's love rival George Knight. Kathy and her partner Rocky have faced money woes recently thanks to Rocky's ex Jo Cotton.
Might they torch the iconic building in hope of getting the insurance payout? Or maybe Jo will return and take a fiery revenge against Kathy and Rocky after their recent showdown. A final theory could be that whoever sets fire to the café ends up being the Christmas Day murder victim, with a mystery male character set to be killed off.
Secrets revealed?
There's nothing like a near-death experience to trigger a new storyline or expose an ongoing secret. With the lead-up to the Christmas death on the way, it could well be that the events at the café lead to the big scenes on Christmas Day. Does the victim cause the blaze, or is one of the women the fire starter?
Perhaps the culprit will have a longterm storyline struggling with their guilt, or maybe we won't find out for a while who is to blame. There will be people trapped too, so could it result in some truths coming out? If Eve Unwin was to be injured, say, would Suki Panesar accidentally reveal her feelings for her, only for husband Nish to find out?
Could Cindy and her ex George Knight end up falling into each other's arms, resulting in her betraying Ian all over again? Might there be a secret we don't even know about yet ready to boil over? Maybe a character will redeem themselves too and be the hero, with plenty of residents having been up to no good recently. Then again, what's to say it won't reignite some old feelings or feuds.
