Corrie's killer Stephen's downfall 'confirmed' as Carla 'to expose villain'

Coronation Street fans are convinced Carla Connor's latest discovery could be the downfall of villain Stephen Reid on the ITV soap.

Carla predicted she had been drugged during a conversation in the latest episode, after learning about former business client Rufus' experiences with LSD. She remains unaware that factory colleague Stephen was drugging her with LSD earlier this year, in a bid to make her believe she was experiencing paranoia.

Given Carla's past mental health troubles, her behaviour left her loved ones concerned as they thought she was experiencing psychosis again. Carla was actually being drugged and this was causing her to feel out of control, and Stephen knew what he was doing. He was trying to get her out of the way so he could have the factory all to himself.

It was Rufus who supplied Stephen with the drugs as he was being blackmailed, but after he turned the tables on Stephen he was killed by the character. After drugs were said to have been linked to his death, Wednesday's episode saw his wife Lou speaking to Carla about his use of LSD.

It's when she described the symptoms Rufus displayed when taking it though that Carla had a thought. She realised it sounded a lot like how she felt earlier in the year, and she began to question if someone was drugging her.

While she wasn't sure, she made it clear she planned to get to the bottom of it and promised revenge. As the comments played out, Stephen kept appearing on the screen ahead of his reported exit from the show.

With the killer's downfall tipped to be on the way, fans began to speculate whether Carla would instigate it. If Carla does investigate and manages to prove she was spiked, could it lead to Stephen being found out and being exposed for all of his crimes?

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "HURRICANE CARLA IS COMING," as another noted: "that was a subtle edit - Carla talking over images of Stephen." A third fan tweeted: "at last Carla realized she's been drugged - it won't take long to realise who it was!"

The comments kept on coming too with another reading: "I really hope it's Carla that brings down Stephen," while a fifth said: "Carla is coming for you stephen."
