Meghan Markle attempts to soothe Prince Harry's nerves in a behind-the-scenes moment from a glitzy event during a surprise appearance in his latest Netflix documentary.

Heart of Invictus finally dropped this morning after a two-year wait, giving people a look behind-the-scenes at the games the Duke of Sussex created. The five-part series is filled with moving stories about competitors and emotional moments. In the first episode, Meghan is seen gently supporting her husband who is overcome with nerves ahead of an important speech at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York.

The mum-of-two looked stunning as she walked the red carpet holding hands with Harry, who was suited and booted in a black tuxedo. The couple sweetly greeted guests ahead of the event, with Meghan telling one woman: "Nice to meet you." After posing for photographers, Meghan and Harry shared a touching moment, as the prince confessed he was feeling anxious ahead of the speech. "Haven't done this for a while," he said. "I know," Meghan replied.

"My heart, I'm like..." Harry said, as he imitated his heart beating fast, while Meghan supportively clutched his hand. "I'm nervous," he giggled. He's then seen impatiently waiting backstage, pacing the room, eating snacks and practising some deep breathing to slow down his racing heart. He then heads to the stage, with Meghan seen adjusting her dress by herself as the door closed behind them.

Meghan has been a huge supporter of the games ever since she started dating Harry, and has been in the crowds cheering off the inspiring athletes ever since. The couple used the games to make their first official appearance, watching the wheelchair tennis together at the 2017 games in Toronto.

During the 2018 games, which were held in Sydney shortly after their wedding, she took to the stage to deliver a moving speech. She said: "A few years ago, before I had met my husband, I had the incredible honour of visiting troops deployed all over the world; from the UK to Italy and Afghanistan, and several other countries. In travelling to these military bases, I was given a very special glimpse into the lives of those who serve our countries.

"I was able to see the unshakable bonds between service men and women on the ground together, but at the same time to feel the palpable longing for family and friends while deployed.

"Once home, the need for that anchor of support from loved ones, especially given how much it accelerates recovery and rehabilitation, is immeasurable. I’ve been reminded of those memories here. During this year’s Games in Sydney I've witnessed the most amazing support networks that surround competitors, and I've had the privilege of meeting several of these family and friends."

"She went on to thank the entire Invictus Games community for making her feel included, adding: "On a very personal note, I just wanted to thank all of you for welcoming me into the Invictus family. I am truly so grateful to be a part of this with each and every one of you."
