Fortnite's latest season is themed around heists so it's no surprise that one of the first missions in the latest season involves breaking into a vault

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 is here and seems to be a far more exciting affair than the underwhelming Chapter 4 Season 3. The new season – titled Last Resort – is themed around performing heists at luxurious resort mansions, so as you can expect, missions this season will involve a lot of sneaking and thieving.

One such mission that was introduced over the weekend tasks you to deploy a scanner in the vault in Fortnite. Which if you've been playing Chapter 4 you'll know this adds a new wrinkle to vaults, which have been around since the chapter started. Here's our Deploy a scanner in the vault Fortnite guide if you need that extra help.

Where to find vaults in Fortnite

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 map actually has six vaults in total, but you'll there's only three you can complete the mission in. These vaults are the ones located in the new areas introduced with the launch of the new season. These are located at Eclipsed Estate, Sanguine Suites, and Relentless Retreat. Each area has a giant mansion as the main point of interest, with vaults stored within, these vaults are usually downstairs, but you'll be able to tell when it's close by. If in doubt, select the mission on your map.

How to deploy a scanner in the vault in Fortnite

Once you reach the vault you'll be greeted by a bunch of suit-clad NPC's who aren't too keen on you plundering the vault. Most will be wearing black, you're wanting to look for the one dressed in white (you'll know for sure as they have the biggest health bar), once you've taken them down they should drop a Retreat Vault Keycard which will open the vault. But to get to the vault you'll need to get through a laser hallway, which activates a gate when you trip it. So either carefully head through there avoiding all lasers (you'll probably want to make sure you've taken down any other NPC's first as you'll be moving slowly), or if you want to go in loud, using a rocket ram to blast through the hallway should get you there before the gate has a chance to close. Then use the keycard on the vault console to open it up.

Once you enter the vault you should see a bunch of loot and a white silhouette, head up to the latter and use the action button (F on PC, Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and Y on Nintendo Switch) and a nice 25K XP will be yours to keep. Make sure to grab as much as you can in the vault, there's some real good item drops in there.
