Good Morning Britain turned very heated on Monday as Richard Madeley grilled Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, over the "back to basics" approach to tackle crime as she shared her plans for the police force.
Richard, 67, got frustrated as he demanded the Home Secretary, 43, to "please deal" with his questions after asking the same point three times to no avail alongside his co-host Kate Garraway. He said: "On behalf of the viewers watching this programme, who may have been burgled last night, and like many people who have contacted us today, lost their vehicles at the weekend and got a crime number, as you say. Now, please stop generalising and telling us how great it all is in other areas.
"Please deal with these figures, two per cent, four per cent and six per cent. This is the third time of asking in the space of two minutes, I want a specific answer please Home Secretary, not a generalised: 'Everything in regard is lovely.' Now tell us what has gone wrong!"

He demanded: "What has gone wrong Home Secretary? What has gone wrong?"
Later, Richard asked: "So what, practically, would you suggest to somebody watching the programme or a bit later on today opens the kitchen door or the front door and their car's gone, it's been stolen, there's broken glass on the curb but they've got video, they've got doorbell video, they've got security cameras, and they can see that when they roll it back. Yep, they can see the thief taking the car. They call the police and all they get is a crime number which is happening a lot at the moment. What are you saying they say to the police?"

To which Braverman spoke about a guidance document for police, adding: "This all depends on a case-by-case basis and the view of an investigator, but if there's some kind of reasonable lead that can be garnered from that evidence - absolutely, the police must be following that up.
"They must not dismiss that as no further action or no sufficient evidence that should be a sufficient basis for an investigation to proceed." To which Richard replied: "Well, the key is in the word 'should', isn't it?"
