Meghan Markle's following 'will grow astronomically' and she could make millions

Meghan Markle could see her social media followers "grow astronomically" amid reports she's set to make a return to Instagram.

The Duchess of Sussex has stayed away from social media ever since she and Prince Harry deactivated a joint account in 2020 when they stepped down from the Royal Family. Meghan is reportedly now set to return to Instagram under the handle of @meghan, which has already built up more than 90,000 followers.

The account has a profile picture of pink peonies, but is yet to fully post to the social media platform. PR expert Mayah Riaz believes it could see Meghan follow in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, who command top fees from sharing content.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "It's hugely speculated that Meghan has secured the account @‌Meghan, which has no posts and a photo of flowers as a profile photo. It already has nearly 90k followers and once confirmed it's her account, the followers will grow astronomically."

She said Meghan could easily command millions for her content on the social media site. Mayah told us: "Meghan's Instagram account could become quite lucrative for her.

"We have seen many celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift get over $1 million per Instagram post. In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo who gets over $2 million per post."

Before marrying Harry, Meghan ran her own lifestyle blog called The Tig. It's believed she could incorporate this work into her new Instagram account. Speaking about the possible content of Meghan's social media, Mayah said: "We can expect Meghan's Instagram account to include glimpses into her family life as well as work projects. I don’t think we will see a lot of photos of Archie and Lilibet, they may include snaps with their face hidden."

Meghan is also well-known for her charity work and strong feminist beliefs. Mayah added: "Her Instagram account is also a great opportunity for her to back causes she is passionate about as well as raise awareness for."
