Drivers will of course hope never to run into any trouble when out and about - especially when driving alone - but there are a few things you can and should do to better prepare yourself for any potentially dangerous situations. With this in mind, a motoring expert has now urged those who often drive solo to familiarise themselves with a little-known yet extremely clever car feature, emphasising that it could well keep them safe and sound in times of peril.
The savvy car guru, who regularly shares her impressive motoring know-how with her 534,000 TikTok followers, recently advised that many modern cars actually come with a very handy inbuilt safety feature, which "could save your life at critical moments".
In her video, the knowledgeable expert, who goes by the username @Chequanxiaoqiao, urged: "Girls who drive alone, be sure to set this function. Take out the car keys, and simultaneously press the lock button and unlock button on the key. Hold for five seconds. The function of only opening the left front door has been successfully set. Press the unlock button again. Only the main driver's door can be opened. The other three doors cannot be opened. If this function is set, robbers will not be able to get in the car from the back door."
This hidden hack, which could indeed prove invaluable in a crisis, was one of "five secret functions" shared by the car whizz, all of which can be activated using your car key. In another helpful tip, she encouraged thrifty motorists not to "rush to spend money on repairs" if their car key is dead and they can't get their vehicle to start, as the solution could well be very simple.
Demonstrating this nifty trick, she explained: "Usually there is an emergency sensing area on the car. It's just under the steering wheel. Let's put the key close to the sensing area. Press and hold the brake. Start again, start successfully!" A number of followers were left amazed by the lesser-known tips, thanking the "awesome" motoring maestro for imparting her wisdom.
