Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham appears in a calm mood on the eve of Lionel Messi's league debut as he relaxed on holiday with his family, despite his MLS team currently sitting at the bottom of the table.

Messi has played several times for Inter Miami since signing as a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain but is yet to feature in the league. And the MLS side are in vital need of points.

Messi got off to a blistering start to his U.S. career, with an incredible ten goals and three assists in just eight games. The World Cup winner has yet to miss a match for the side and has already lifted his first trophy for the club.

Thanks to his clinical finishing and passing, Messi guided the team to the Leagues Cup final. Miami defeated Nashville after a tense penalty shoot-out which saw the MLS side lift their first-ever trophy.

Messi's latest achievement was guiding the team to the U.S. Open Cup final where they will face Houston Dynamo on September 27.

However, a real test for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will come in the MLS Eastern Conference League. Inter Miami currently sit at the bottom of the table on 18 points.

Miami have only registered five wins all season with three draws and 14 defeats. The team are currently 14 points off a final series play-off spot, but the club's co-owner David Beckham seems relaxed about the situation.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder is in Croatia with his family ahead of the game. His wife, Victoria, has posted a series of photos of the holiday, including a video of Beckham with his shirt open out at sea.

Beckham may look calm with Inter boss Tata Martino suggesting that Messi may be rested for the upcoming match.

"You also have to take into account the large number of games that we played in 45, 50 days,” the former Argentina and Barcelona boss said.

“Both Leo and many other players are reaching an important physical limit and from today we will evaluate how we approach the next three matches.

“The fatigue is overcome with all the enthusiasm … I hope the team in the future could play better. But it’s very difficult to do that when you almost can’t rest.”

Despite Messi's potential absence, Inter Miami will play New York Red Bulls in the early hours of tomorrow morning with kick-off at 00:30 a.m. GMT/7:30 p.m. ET at Red Bull Arena.
