Jamie Carragher doesn't believe Liverpool will sell Mohamed Salah this month - but he wouldn't be surprised to see the Reds talisman complete a lucrative switch to the Middle East next year.

Salah, 31, has become the latest high-profile name to be courted by the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks with Al-Ittihad keen on securing the forward's services. Liverpool have already lost Fabinho to Al-Ittihad this summer, while Jordan Henderson was lured away by Al-Ettifaq.

Jurgen Klopp moved to cool talk of a move on Friday amid speculation that Al-Ittihad were preparing a blockbuster bid for Salah ahead of next week's transfer deadline. And Carragher doesn't see the Reds cashing in on their prized asset this late in the window.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said of Salah: "He wouldn't leave for £100million. I think if it got to £150m, and maybe over that, you might have a question to be asked.

"But I just think it is so late in the window, that is the problem. If you actually think of Liverpool's model under FSG, if this had come at a better time or the team was a little bit better, I think they would seriously think about it.

"They did that with Philippe Coutinho a few years ago. Liverpool didn't replace Coutinho, they just strengthened in other areas. If that was to happen, which I don't think it will, it does make me think about next summer. Mo Salah has got two seasons to go, so I think it could be something that is revisited next summer."

While speculation persists over Salah, Liverpool are still in the market for reinforcements after losing the services of both Fabinho and Henderson.

The Reds have already completed deals for Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo in a bid to overhaul their beleaguered engine room. It is understood that Klopp would like to bring in another midfielder before September 1 - and Carragher warned Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group that the club need to be bringing more bodies in, not contemplating further sales.

He continued: "If they [Al-Ittihad] kept going higher and higher, of course it was be ridiculous to turn down an obscene amount of money. Liverpool supporters are crying out for signings and not looking to move players on. He is their best player and I think he will stay."
