Former Strictly star feels 'vulnerable' whenever they hear show's theme tune

Loose Women star Sunetra Sarker has revealed she gets throwbacks to her time on Strictly Come Dancing everytime she hears the theme tune.

The star appeared on today's Loose Women (Friday 25 August) as she joined fellow panellists Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Kelsey Parker on the ITV daytime chat show. The four women discussed battling nerves and stage fright, when Kaye and Sunetra revealed that one particular piece of music still gave them a nervous feeling.

Kaye Adams competed in Strictly last year partnered with Kai Widdrington, but was sent home in the first week. Casualty actress Sunetra appeared on the dancing show in 2014 with partner Brendan Cole, and made it to the final seven before exiting after a dance off against Mark Wright and Karen Hauer.

Chatting on Loose Women, Kaye and Sunetra both looked back at their respective time on Strictly.

Sunetra admitted: "It does have a power of us doesn't it? That music. No matter what year it is, and I'm a good eight years on..."

Kaye interjected as she joked: "You sound like you're recovering."

Sunetra continued: "I am, it's like I'm in AA! I'm on the other side of it, in a big way. Whenever I hear that 'Dancing the tango with their partner' I go 'oh god it's happening, it's happening again' because you can't believe you've put yourself in such a vulnerable position and your nerves. I wish I could go back and know now the things I could do."

Kaye admitted her nerves on the programme last year "floored" her, but she asked fellow panellist Sunetra how she controlled her nerves whilst dancing on the show as she added: "I literally learnt meditation for that job. I found myself in a sea full of people who were such big personalities, everyone was busy and there was so much going on that it was like working in the circus except you don't have an act!"
