People gobsmacked after learning what bottom of postboxes actually look like
No matter how old we get, every day seems to bring with it an opportunity to learn something new - be it why women's underwear often has little bows on the front or why you shouldn't put rubbish into a stranger's wheelie bin on the street. We've also found out some interesting facts about our iconic red postboxes - with a postman revealing what they look like when they're opened up.
But now another social media user has gone viral after sharing a different fact about the iconic red cylindrical postboxes you see up and down the country - and it's fair to say the information has proved rather "mind-boggling" for some. The little-known fact was shared by a person known as @fecklessfox100 who posted an image showing the bottom of postboxes and it turns out they're a lot bigger than we initally thought.
Alongside a picture of three postboxes, they wrote: "Today is the day I learnt that they're not just attached to the floor!" A screenshot of the post was shared on Instagram by @TheArchbishopOfBanterbury where it went viral, being liked hundreds of thousands of times.
Thousands of people also flocked to the comments section to share their shock over what the bottom of a postbox really looks like. One person said: "What the actual f***?!" Another replied: "It's like seeing a teacher outside of school." While a third wrote: "Sorry what???"
Someone else posted: "I did not know that," as a different user proclaimed it to be "random s**t we like to know about". And the comments kept on coming, with a sixth admitting: "This is why I have trust issues". A seventh person branded it "Post Office wizardry" while a fellow Instagram user simply thought it was "mind-boggling".
