Prince Louis' unusual first words revealed by mum Kate Middleton

For most babies, their first words are usually mummy or daddy - but that certainly wasn't the case for Prince Louis. According to his mum, the Princess of Wales, the now five-year-old had much more unusual first words - and it was all down to her love of baking.

Appearing on BBC baking show for a Christmas special in 2019, Kate revealed that her youngest child's first words were "Mary Berry". Kate appeared on the show called A Berry Royal Christmas alongside Mary and her husband Prince William when she said that Louis was learning to speak using the books on her bookshelf.

She told the TV cook: "One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen. And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry’. So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you.”

Last year, Prince Louis joined his big brother, Prince George, and big sister, Princess Charlotte at Lambrook School in Berkshire following the family's move to Windsor. The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales stole the hearts of the nation during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations with his excitement and adorable facial expressions.

Little Louis also played a key role at his great-grandfather, King Charles' Coronation, where he won universal praise for being so well-behaved during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and in the events following the big day.
