Tesco August bank holiday opening times - see when stores will open

Tesco shoppers will want to know if stores are open this coming August bank holiday Monday.

There is always a bank holiday on the last Monday in August in England and Wales - this year, it falls on August 28. Bank holidays sometimes mean the opening times of your favourite store might be slightly different.

Tesco has more than 2,800 stores across the UK, including larger supermarket and its smaller Tesco Express convenience stores. But will its stores be open this Monday? We explain what you need to know.

Tesco August bank holiday opening hours

Tesco opening times vary across the UK and the below is just a rough idea of when stores will operate over the August bank holiday. To avoid disappointment, check the times of your local shop by using the Tesco online store finder tool.

Most larger Tesco supermarkets in England and Wales normally open from 6am or 7am and shut at either 10pm, 11pm or midnight on Mondays. However, when The Mirror checked several stores today, they’re scheduled to open from 8am until 6pm this bank holiday Monday.

Tesco Express stores also typically open at 6am or 7am and shut at 10pm, 11pm or midnight. However, these smaller convenience shops are expected to operate under these regular shopping hours this bank holiday Monday.

Tesco stores in Scotland will also be open as normal this bank holiday Monday, as August 28 is not a bank holiday in Scotland. Scotland had a bank holiday on August 7 instead.

Tesco shoppers don't have long left to use up their Clubcard vouchers before they lose them for good. In an update earlier this month, the supermarket said £11.5million worth of Clubcard vouchers will expire on August 31 - which means shoppers only have two weeks left to benefit from them.

If they are not used before this date, then the vouchers will expire and shoppers will not be able to use them. Around three million people have vouchers set to expire this month.

Tesco sends out Clubcard vouchers every three months - in February, May, August and November. The set to expire were first issued in August 2021.
