Two men arrested for arson after fire destroyed iconic Crooked House pub
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after the historic Crooked House pub was set ablaze earlier this month.
Police today said they have arrested a 66-year-old man, from Dudley, and a 33-year-old man, from Milton Keynes, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
They remain in custody today and are being questioned by officers while the investigation continues. Staffordshire Police have said they are continuing to appeal for information.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene at about 10pm on August 5 following reports a fire had broken out. At least 30 firefighters were deployed to tackle the smoke and flames.

Detective Chief Superintendent Tom Chisholm previously said in a statement: “We understand the significance of this much-loved building and the upset and anger felt by many, so we want to reassure you we’re doing all we can to understand more about what happened, and who was responsible.”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police: "Detectives investigating the fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley have arrested two men. A 66-year-old man, from Dudley, and a 33-year-old man, from Milton Keynes, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. They remain in custody today (24 August) and are being questioned by officers while the investigation continues.
