Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has compared Erik ten Hag's training sessions to "being at Harvard".

The Ivy League university is one of the most prestigious in the world and Pellistri believes Harvard is similar to United as you are surrounded by "the best of the best" which allows young players to "improve a lot".

The 21-year-old signed for United in 2020 but has found first-team opportunities limited, making just 12 senior appearances in all competitions. He has enjoyed two separate loan stints at Spanish club Deportivo Alaves and impressed Ten Hag in pre-season.

He has made brief appearances off the bench in United's first two Premier League games and feels he benefited from staying at the club last season and training with the first-team instead of going out on loan, even though he was limited to just one start.

"Being here, all the players are top players," Pellistri told club media. "So when you train here, you learn lot. Every session is like being at Harvard because you have the best of the best.

"So, in training, you improve a lot. Last year, I stayed all the season and I improved a lot in all aspects. And, of course, to be here and to live the way United is, you also gain a lot of experience.

"We have very good players and the competition is there but we have good competition. We support each other. The one [who] is best in the moment will play because the important thing for all of us, for the group, is to achieve trophies.

"And the manager always says also that the important thing is the squad. Last year, the squad took an important role. So that's the way we see things - everyone can play. And you have to be all together to achieve great things."

Pellistri has been linked with a loan move to Sheffield United this summer, which would give him the opportunity to gain more regular Premier League action. And the player has admitted he is open to an exit, sating during pre-season: "Yes, I have spoken to him [Ten Hag' and we are working together to find the best club, the best way, the best option.

"I am happy with that way because we are all in the same position. [I'm hoping] to play. In my position and at my age, what you want is to play. We are looking forward to find the best solution to do that."
