Woman regrets upside-down pineapple tattoo after discovering hidden meaning

Many of us will have gotten questionable tattoos in our younger, wilder days that we may later live to regret, but it's especially awkward when you realise you could have been sending out completely the wrong message, completely by accident. One body art lover has now been left absolutely mortified after she twigged that her upside-down pineapple tattoo had a very naughty meaning indeed.

TikTok user Brittany Lewin had thought nothing of it when she got a sweet design inked on her forearm, showing an upside-down pineapple inside a triangle. Little did she know that her fruity ink had some seriously x-rated connotations, leading her to believe she's made a bit of a mistake.

Taking to TikTok, Brittany, who goes by the username @b_brittanylewin, revealed she'd only found out that her tat could be sending out hidden signals after proudly sending pics to a pal. Her friend responded by enquiring, "is that an upside-down pineapple?" to which Brittany innocently replied: "Hahaha not when my arm is down".

Being blissfully aware of what her friend was getting at, Brittany then sent her over a pic of her new ink, this time turned the right way up, but alarm bells started to ring when her pal responded, "It's still gonna make me giggle. I only just found out what an upside-down pineapple tattoo actually means."

Brittany, who is based in Queensland, Australia, then went about having a quick Google for herself and was stunned to learn that an upside-down pineapple is in fact used as a secret symbol by swingers wanting to identify each other and signify that they're actively looking for a partner swap.

According to the website Cruisemummy: "Pineapples are used as a secret way for swingers to identify each other. If you see someone wearing an upside-down pineapple badge or pin, it means that they're actively looking for a partner swap. An upside-down pineapple on someone's front porch can be seen as an invitation to join a swinger party."

Addressing her followers, an aghast Brittany, who runs two businesses, Zasha Boutique and Empress Athleticus, gasped: "Besties!! I post stories daily with my arm like this..." Many people were left in complete hysterics, with a number of individuals having also been completely in the dark about this cheeky meaning.

One person chuckled: "No way?!? I have a large pineapple tattoo that's visible…. I had no idea!"

Another admitted: "I've thought this in every video I've seen of you. I just thought each to their own."
