'Drunk' primary school teacher pulled out of classroom 'with a glass of wine'
A third grade teacher was arrested on suspicion of being 'drunk on the job' after staff noticed that her cup was allegedly filled with wine.
Kimberly Coates, 53, had been teaching her class at Perkins-Tryon Intermediate School in Oklahoma when she was yanked of her classroom on the first day of term to meet with the school's superintendent and a police officer.
Officials notified the school's resource officer that teacher Kimberly Coates', 53, was possibly intoxicated toward the end of the school day around 3:20 p.m.
Kimberly reportedly came into work on August 17 with "red watery eyes and a thick, slurred speech," according to a school resource officer who also noted that "Kimberly had a hard time completing sentences" in the report.
After refusing to request a ride from her husband, Kimberly was arrested and taken to Payne County jail on an anticipated charge of public intoxication.

Police body cam footage shows that Kimberly, as though holding back tears, admitted to drinking a hefty amount of wine the night before—estimating she finished about half a box.
She said she had stopped around 3 a.m, which leaves about a five-hour gap before the school day started at 8:25 a.m, according to its website.

The Perkins-Tryon school superintendent bluntly told Kimberly that her teaching career was likely over (Perkins Police Department)She tried to excuse her actions by informing the superintendent and police that she was on anxiety medication—when she was unable to present the bottle, Kimberly claimed that she had brought one pill with her to school and taken it earlier in the day.
Making matters worse, the superintendent, who was retrieving Kimberly's bag from her classroom, discovered a blue cup holding red liquid that bore an alcoholic odour. The school resource officer soon concluded that the liquid was indeed wine. Kimberly, obviously backed into a corner, is heard on body cam footage saying woefully "I know I've been having a hard time; am i going to get fired?"
The superintendent curtly replied "honestly yes, or you could resign." He cited the seriousness of the situation and reminded Kimberly that she was drunk at a public school in the presence of kids.
