Ariana Grande gets new Wicked tattoo amid romance with co-star Ethan Slater

Ariana Grande has admitted to getting a tattoo in honour of her role as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked film amid her rumoured romance with co-star Ethan Slater.

The chart-topping star opened up about her inkings during a new interview and was quick to show off the elaborate design to the back of her right hand as she discussed her reasons for adding the artwork to her vast collection of designs etched on her body. Talking to Allure she admitted feeling the design felt "very right" for her.

Ariana, 30, has been filming for the role since 2022 with production currently on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, the delay hasn't stopped her from paying tribute to the role before it's even complete. In a fill in the blanks style of questioning Allure asked: "If you got another tattoo, you’d get a ___\ on your ____."

Ariana then replied: "That’s hard because when they come to me, I just get them. This one I knew I wanted to get for a very long time. This is my most recent one. [She holds up the back of her inked-out right hand] It's Glinda from the original L. Frank Baum book. I waited forever to fill up this hand. And I thought, 'I'm gonna wait for the right thing to come along,' and yeah, that felt very right."

The decision was made all the more interesting for fans of Ariana after she was romantically linked to Ethan just days after the breakdown of her two-year marriage to Dalton Gomez, 28. Slater plays Boq in Wicked - a love interest of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose who's affections are thwarted by Glinda.

At the time a source told People: “Ariana and Dalton separated in January. She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife.” Ethan was married to his wife Lilly Jay, since 2018, with the couple confirming via Instagram in January 2023 that they had welcomed a baby son. According to TMZ he filed for divorce on July 26 at a court in New York City.

Lily Jay subsequently addressed rumours of Romantic involvement between Ariana and Ethan on an. interview with Page Six on July 27. She said: “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”
