EastEnders fans 'work out' why Cindy Beale abandoned second family

EastEnders fans have 'worked out' why Cindy Beale decided to abandon her other family - the Knights.

Earlier this year, we found out that Cindy Beale - played by Michelle Collins - is very much alive. We had been told she had died in childbirth whilst in prison, but that was actually a rouse by witness protection, who had given her a brand new life. Something happened in prison which forced her to be relocated - and she ended up getting a new name and new start.

Following the change of identity, Rose - as she was then known as - ended up meeting George Knight and going on to have two children with him. Gina and Anna, alongside George, are now in Walford, with no idea who their mother and wife really is.

Whilst we now know a lot about what happened, we are still unsure why she decided to leave her new family. She claims it was because witness protection was over, but fans aren't sure this is the only reason she left them.

Viewers have been taking to social media and site Reddit to share their theories on why she decided to abandon George, Anna and Gina all of a sudden. One fan penned on Reddit: "She found out Lucy had died and then got paranoid that by having another family she was putting Anna and Gina in danger from the gangster family so she did a runner. Why she didn't think that when she hooked back up with Ian and Peter is anyone's guess but we're not meant to think too hard about it lol."

Others wondered whether Cindy had seen Lucy's death as a 'sign' from the woman she was running from.

"My guess is that when Lucy was murdered, she thought it was a 'message' from the woman she was hiding from, and she had to run again. I don't know if she even knows it was Bobby," they theorised.

Another quipped: "On a slightly pointless but funny note. If she abandoned Gina and Anna after Lucy's death then she did it close to the same time Stella Price (played by Michelle) left Corrie."

Whatever her reason, all will be revealed next week as Cindy makes a huge return to Walford. Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law) are also back, and there will no doubt be fireworks when the Beales head home to Albert Square.
