It looks like Sam Thompson has accidentally let slip the first dance his girlfriend, Zara McDermott, 26, will be doing as she makes history as the first Love Island contestant to ever bag a spot on the Strictly Come Dancing line-up.

Former Made In Chelsea star Sam, 31, revealed to the nation on his show Radio Hits what girlfriend Zara’s first Strictly dance will be when he revealed that he and his girlfriend of four years have been practising her dance in their kitchen every night ahead of her exciting debut on the BBC One competition.

Sam revealed on air: "I’ve been dancing a lot in my household - the prep is real at our gaff. I genuinely think I’ve waltzed around the kitchen with Zara about 50 times right now and I don’t even know how to waltz."

The reality TV star also shared how excited he is for his girlfriend to feature on the reality show: "The fever is growing, all systems go! I’m so excited to watch her, I’m going to start making my banners, I can’t wait. Although she only gets two tickets to go to the live shows and she’s already told me that she wants her parents to go to the majority of them so I’ll guess I’ll be standing outside. But I don’t care I will be there."

It comes after reports that Sam is 'massively dreading' the Strictly curse as his girlfriend gears up to show off her dance skills on the BBC One competition. The former Made In Chelsea star is said to be feeling 'insecure' over Zara's impending stint on the show. The couple split back in August 2019 after a source revealed Zara had enjoyed a tryst with 'someone in the music industry' while she appeared in X Factor: Celebrity.

Zara managed to keep the scandal secret for months before Sam eventually found out the gutting truth, with his devastated reaction teased on the E4 programme. He is said to be very worried with Strictly being the first time she has entered a reality TV competition since.

The former Love Island star – who was unfaithful to Sam with music executive Brahim Fouradi during her time on the talent content – was the seventh contestant announced to be taking part in the BBC dance competition. But after working so hard to rebuild their relationship, Sam is said to have reservations, OK! Magazine report.

The BBC family show Strictly has gained a wild reputation over the years thanks to the infamous show 'curse'. Celebrity contestants hooking up with their professional dance partners, and even each other, has become as much a feature of the show as sequins and controversial scores.

“They broke up because of it but have claimed to be super strong ever since,” a source said. “Sam is massively dreading history repeating itself and the Strictly curse is definitely playing on his mind. She is getting hotter by the minute and she’s likely to be a huge favourite.“

Although it’s not yet known which professional dancer the 26-year-old reality star will be paired with, her potential partners are Graziano Di Prima, Gorka Marquez, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Carlos Gu, Vito Coppola or Giovanni Pernice, who previously dated former Love Island star Maura Higgins.
