One EastEnders fan has cracked the identity of who dies at Christmas after spotting a clue with the date of the trailer release.
Fans have long been speculating who the dead body is as someone dies on Sharon's wedding day. In a special flashforward scene earlier this year, the six women - Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) - are seen standing around the body.
Soap boss Chris Clenshaw has teased the death of the man will send shockwaves through Walford, with fan guesses including the likes of Keanu Taylor, Jack Branning, Nish Panesar and even the presumed dead Mick Carter.
Taking to Reddit, one fan shared their theory about why Phil Mitchell is the dead body at Christmas. The fan gave multiple reasons, including that they felt Steve McFadden had been taking multiple hiatuses from the show.
Could Phil Mitchell die this Christmas? (BBC/Kieron McCarron/Jack Barnes)Giving their other thoughts, they wrote: "Phil Mitchell is linked to all 6 women in the Queen Vic: he was formerly married to Sharon and had a 33 year turbulent friendship with her, he was formerly married to Kathy, he had a child with Denise, he was attacked by Stacy in 2019 and had caused years of grief for her afterwards, he had lost the Queen Vic to Linda and the Carters, and his son was responsible for the son of Suki’s death," before adding about Phil's link with Sharon and Keanu.

"Phil’s feud with Keanu stemmed from his affair with Sharon so if Sharon were to marry Keanu(which has been heavily indicated) then Phil would not take kindly to that and this could cause him to behave violently perhaps causing a death as the women rush to protect themselves from harm," they continued in the lengthy post.
Ross Kemp recently admitted he'd consider a return to EastEnders, with the fan convinced Phil's death could be the perfect way to get Grant Mitchell back in Walford. They were also puzzled by the fact Kat wasn't in the scene and that Sharon seemed most concerned about the person's death, meaning the person was likely very close to her.
However, it was the date of the release of the trailer that had the fan sure it must be Phil who dies this Christmas.
"The trailer for the Christmas 2023 event was released on YouTube on the 20th February 2023 which was the same date as when Phil Mitchell first stepped foot into Walford (20th February 1990)," they penned, as another fan responded: "I’m not 100% convinced it’s Phil but you’ve laid out some great points, especially about the release date of the trailer."
