Kate Garraway warned 'calm down' by KSI as she punches Richard Madeley

Kate Garraway packed a punch on Good Morning Britain earlier today, with the mum-of-two's co-host Richard Madeley, 67, on the receiving end of one of her blows.

Guest KSI, 30, had to tell the Life Stories presenter, 56, to "calm down" at one point during the fun feature - warning Kate she was "going to knock his head off" as she threw her weight behind a right hook as I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star Richard held a pair of punch pads.

"How many people [are] wanting Kate to punch Richard in the gob," one social media mused as the hilarious scenes aired, with another adding: "After the hell her family has been through,it’s great seeing her happy!" Others viewers took issue with the light-hearted segment, with one tweeting: "Channel 4 - bring back The Big Breakfast please ! This is more cringe worthy than walking in catch yer mum n dad at it !!"

There was context to Kate donning a pair of boxing gloves on the ITV programme this morning, as social media sensation KSI popped into the studio to promote his upcoming fight with boxer Tommy Fury. KSI and the former Love Island star, 24, are set to battle it out in the ring on October 14 in Manchester.

The two men are scheduled appear at a Wembley Arena press conference later today to hype up their bout, with KSI starting the promotional day early with an appearance on Good Morning Britain. The YouTuber turned boxer initially began his chat with Kate and Richard discussing his global fame but the conversation soon turned to boxing.

KSI then decided it was time to give the two presenters a demonstration and teach the pair some new skills, with the YouTube sensation attaching a pair of boxing gloves to Richard ready for Kate to throw some punches. Kate's 14-year-old son William was watching on as his mum sparred with her co-host on live TV.

"Calm down!" KSI exclaimed at one point during the impronetu boxing session, as an excited Kate started throwing windmill punches towards Richard and really putting some effort into her punches. "You're going to knock his head off," KSI he went on to warn Kate, who replied: "Me or Tommy Fury?"

Not missing a chance to mock his boxing rival, KSI replied with a savage response to Kate's question - jokingly telling the ITV broadcaster he'd rather fight Molly-Mae Hague's boyfriend Tommy than face the Good Morning Britain presenter in the ring for a few rounds.

Elsewhere on the show, KSI explained how he ended up becoming a boxer. He told Kate and Richard: "It kind of started as a joke. It started with me just calling out a guy called Joe Weller, he was one of the first guys doing this whole boxing thing. I called him out as a joke being like ‘Oh, I’ll fight you after you fight this other guy’ and he [Joe] won his fight, then called me out!

"I was like ‘Oh no way, I don’t actually wanna fight, I’ve never fought in my life’... To be put in the ring was just the worst thing I could ever think of. I kind of just went for it and just enjoyed it, kept going. I kept winning and all of a sudden I’m now fighting Tommy Fury who is a professional boxer. This is a proper fight, me and him are going at it."

KSI also touched on how he handles life in the spotlight, explaining: "For me, I keep my private things very, very private. I have a girlfriend and she’s very private, we keep things quiet. Whenever I spend time with her, it’s all about her. Even with my family, I like to do things privately and it’s just making sure that whenever I need to be out in the public eye, I do that and whenever I need to be private, I keep things private and separate.

"Friends and family, they all just ground me. They always make fun of me, they always tell me ‘You might be doing this, but you're still just a normal guy’… I see myself as a normal guy, who has been thrown into these crazy situations."

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 & ITVX
