Robert De Niro's daughter attends his 80th birthday weeks after son's death

Robert De Niro's daughter Drena made an appearance at her father's 80th birthday bash just weeks after the tragic death of her son, Leandro.

The 19-year-old was found dead in his apartment last month, with autopsy results showing he had a mixture of drugs in his system at the time.

But on Friday, Drena was seen celebrating her dad's birthday along with a star-studded list of invites including Leonardo DiCaprio, Chistopher Walken, Sir Paul McCartney and Michael Scorsese. Drena, 51, opted for a cream strapless top for the occasion and paired it with slacks and black shoes.

For her hair, she went for a pulled back look, bringing her black hair into a bun. She accessorised with tinted sunglasses and a smart cream handbag.

Drena took to social media to announce the death of her son last month. She wrote at the time: "You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you."

According to TMZ, the medical examiner in New York City says the teen passed away from the toxic effects of a number of drugs. They included fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine. The examiner went on to say Leandro's death will be ruled as an accidental overdose.

Drena has continued to post tributes to her son in the weeks that followed his death as well as hitting out at those people who deal drugs. She wrote on Instagram last month: "Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him so for all these people still f***ing around selling and buying this s***, my son is gone forever."

It was reported last month that a woman had been arrested in connection to Leandro's death. She was reportedly arrested during a sting operation carried out by the NYPD, Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security. The suspect is alleged to have sold drugs to him before he was later found dead. The suspect is said to be facing up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.

Taxi Driver star Robert adopted Drena in 1976 when he married her mother, Diahnne Abbott. Twelve years later the couple divorced after welcoming another child. The Oscar winner also has five other children, including a baby girl named Gia who he welcomed to the world in April with current partner Tiffany Chen, 44.
