Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams has revealed he will be in same sex pairing in the upcoming series of the show.

West End and Bad Education star Layton, 28, was confirmed amongst the 15 celebrities set to take to the Strictly dance floor in the hopes of scooping the Glitterball trophy.

Layton was confirmed alongside EastEnders star Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman, Zara McDermott, Ellie Leach and many more. While we know which celebrities will be competing this year, we are yet to find out which professional dancer they will be paired up with for the series.

The actor announced the news on Twitter, as he was asked by a fan: "Are you allowed to request a man/woman or is that totally random too?"

Layton responded by writing: "I’m 100% gonna be paired up with a man".

However, while we wait to find out the celebrity and professional dancer pairings, Layton has confirmed he will be partnered up with a male this series – following in the footsteps of Johannes Radebe and John Whaite, who were the first ever all-male pairing on the show.

"I’d love for you to dance with Graziano!," a third penned however, Layton wouldn't let slip on if he knows who he is with as one fan quizzed: "We know you have chemistry tests. So you must have an inkling".

Layton responded with a zipped mouth emoji and later added in a separate tweet: "Ps - I don't know who my partner is lol and even if I did it's giving

"We genuinely don't know until that very moment in screen. Wild right?!", followed by a mind blown emoji.

It comes after Layton revealed his hopes to be partnered with a male in the upcoming series. Speaking on The One Show, Layton said: "Honestly, truly, I’m happy so long as it’s a guy. I’ve said I want to dance with a man. I want to be flung around.

"Basically, at college I was always vey jealous of the girls being thrown around and was like, 'I want to be that!'

"So I can’t wait to get flung around and wear some glittery costumes."

The first same sex partnering on the show came in 2020 with Nicola Adams and Katya Jones, who were sadly forced to withdraw from the competition due to Covid-19.

John and Johannes made history as the show's first all-male partnership, and made it all the way to the final in 2021. The pair then finished in second place.
