Prince William's savage complaint about Kate 'hurting his ears' on visit

Their royal duties take the Prince and Princess of Wales the length and breadth of the UK and sometimes even overseas.

And during their hundreds of visits each year, they get the opportunity to turn their hands to a range of new skills. This year alone they've made rotis, built a boat and even abseiled off a cliff in the Brecon Beacons.

But when Kate attempted something she'd never done before when they visited Scotland back in 2021, it did not go down well with Prince William - and he made a brutally savage joke about it. It came when they were at a violence reduction centre in East Lothian and they swung by the group's partner organisation Heavy Sound, which provides music, creative arts and sports activities in underprivileged areas.

Here, Kate had a go a becoming a DJ and leaned over the turntable to help a musician put together a tune. But when she added a smattering of synth, it prompted a strange whining sound - and the room burst into laughter. Despite the instructor saying that Kate's effort was "pretty good", William quipped that it was "hurting my ears" and "sounds like a cat". And it prompted Kate to say: "Sorry for leaving such a terrible song. Delete it, delete it!"

However, it could be Kate's dance music skills have improved recently - especially since she was spotted letting her hair down on a visit to a rave festival. It emerged that Kate went to the Houghton Festival with pals at the weekend, which attracts up to 12,000 revellers to enjoy the dance and rave music.

And it has now been reported exactly what she got up to - and the hefty tip her party left staff. It appears that Kate attending the Houghton Festival was a very last-minute decision. In fact, she was reportedly at a dinner party with her friends the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, David Rocksavage and Rose Hanbury, whose estate the festival was being held on.

But rather than snack on food from a truck or burger van, it is reported Kate and her party of friends actually dined at the festival's on-site restaurant Turntable and Napkin, where a four-course meal sets diners back around £60. It is also said her group drank wine and spicy margaritas and had a great time.

A source told the London Evening Standard that Kate was "in high spirits, ordering spicy margaritas, eating affogato [an Italian coffee-based dessert], and speaking affably with the other members of her party." Her companions apparently carted in a huge, balthazar-sized bottle of AIX rosé and, together with Kate, left the festival restaurant staff a £700 tip." A balthazar-sized bottle of wine can hold up to 12 litres - and can cost £500.

It's unknown if Kate ventured out of the on-site restaurant to the stages to enjoy any of the acts that night. But if she did, she would have seen the likes of DJ Stingray, DMX Crew and Shanti Celeste.
