With wedding season in full swing, it's the perfect time to get dressed up and celebrate the happy couple. However, finding the perfect wedding guest outfit can be no mean feat. Wanting to dress comfortably but stylish without offending the bride and groom is a task in itself not bringing attention away from them. So whether you opt for a dress or trousers, it can become quite a task - especially when you don't know how the weather will be.
One woman took to asking strangers online their thoughts on her 'dream' dress she wanted to order for a friend's wedding but was met with some harsh criticisms instead. Being told her choices were inappropriate, some even went to the extent of comparing it to 'Little Bo Peep'.

She posted the photo with the caption: "I have a friend's wedding in November and I've always wanted a reason to buy a dress from Selkie. Are either of these outfits appropriate?"
Admitting she was about to spend over £200 ($300) on the dress, people told her she would be taking the attention away from the bride as the dresses gave off a 'main character energy' with others saying they look cheap and would be better for a picnic or photoshoot.
And she was met with a flood of harsh comments. One Redditor replied: "The first one gives little bo peep vibes. The second I think grandma's nightgown. Neither feel wedding appropriate," as another commented: "Not appropriate. Too light-coloured, too much main character energy, and honestly look like sleepwear. "

She isn't the only one who has been advised to look for alternatives, as TikToker Lauren Candy, who regularly posts outfit pictures online, recently shared a video showing off "quite possibly the most beautiful wedding guest dress ever". Other people had different views.
In the TikTok video, Lauren, from Bristol, is wearing a sage green embellished dress from ASOS. The gorgeous dress is embroidered with green and pink flowers and has some soft ruffles. Lauren was likely unaware of the intense discussion that followed in the comment section, not about whether it was a nice dress, but whether it was green or white.
Many people thought the dress was "too close to white" and "inappropriate" for a wedding. One person commented: "Too close to white. If the light you have on in your room is enough to make it this light it will probably show up white in the pictures outside," and "If there's a chance that it looks white on camera it’s a no go," commented a second.
