The Princess of Wales left Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp shocked by her respectful gesture when visiting his family home, he has revealed.
Earlier this year, Kate and Roman teamed up to film a video about mental health as part of the royal's Shaping Us campaign, which aims to highlight the importance of children's early years.
Roman, whose parents are '80s pop legends Martin and Shirlie Kemp, had previously starred in a hard-hitting documentary, which explored the male suicide crisis after the death of his close friend and colleague Joe Lyons. After it aired on the BBC, Kate got in touch and they agreed to meet at his family home in Hertfordshire to make a video for her campaign.

Speaking to The Times, he explained: "We had a Zoom call, just her and me. And she was like, ‘Oh, you know, I can come over to your place and do it there [film a video].’
"And I just said, ‘No, let’s go to my parents’. It’s a bigger house. I don’t want to bring royalty to a flat in Vauxhall. He added: "We were sitting at the kitchen counter, with my mum and dad and my sister with all the dogs, and Kate was there with us.

"The funniest thing was she didn't have any shoes on because she was respectful enough to take her shoes off at the door. That really stuck in my head because you never see royalty with no shoes."
The pair chatting in the video for Kate's Shaping Us campaign (The Prince and Princess of Wales / YouTube)Kate's gesture appears to mirror that of her sister-in-law Meghan Markle, who revealed that at her first meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, she was barefoot and wearing ripped jeans. In addition, she has been pictured several times in the past shunning footwear and opting to show her feet.
Roman's revelation about Kate is not the first time he has opened up about his brushes with royalty. In 2019, while appearing on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, he told how Prince Harry asked him to fire a water balloon at Prince William during an event at Buckingham Palace several years before.
Roman was DJing at a children's palace garden party for charities when he said Harry came over and encourage him to fire the water-filled balloon at the heir to the throne. He recalled: "I was playing a track and someone came over and said, 'Roman come here', and it was Prince Harry. Princess Kate was there and there was a slingshot in the middle.
"They've got a bucket filled with water balloons, and they're just pinging off these water balloons into the crowd from a balcony." He explained: "I'm like, 'what is going on?' [Harry] said, 'aim a bit to the left' and I said, 'who am I aiming for?' and he said, 'my brother'. I said, 'no I'll be done for treason!'"
