Conor McGregor's favourite UFC walkout took place moments before he became the first simultaneous two-weight world champion.

McGregor, 35, typically walks out 'The Foggy Dew' which is sung by the late Sinéad O’Connor and The Chieftains. The song has become synonymous with the Irishman, who has one of the most iconic walkouts in UFC history. McGregor often remixes the Irish folk song with 'Juicy' by legendary rapper Biggie Smalls.

The Irishman recently coached alongside Michael Chandler on season 31 of the UFC's reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter. In unseen footage of the season's final episode, McGregor takes his team out for dinner and one of his fighters quizzes him about his past walkouts. McGregor then names his UFC 205 fight against Eddie Alvarez in November 2016 as the favourite entrance of his career.

"New York against Alvarez for the second belt. I had avenged the [Nate] Diaz loss and I was still the featherweight world champion. I was moving up to 155lb and it was the first event in New York, the highest gate Madison Square Garden had ever had. I came out to Sinead O'Connor's song The Foggy Dew.

"Then it kicked into 50 Cent I run New York [I Get Money]. For me, Sinead is dialled in. You're on the battlefield with an axe in the fog, that's the way that makes you feel. Then when it kicks into 'Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, can't you see' or the 'I run New York'. It's good, it's just a different vibe. There's that intenseness and that looseness."

McGregor knocked out Alvarez in the second round to win the lightweight belt, a title he was later stripped of due to inactivity. The Irishman attempted to win the belt back when he fought bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018, but he was tapped out in the fourth round.

Back in 2015, McGregor and Chad Mendes became the only two UFC fighters to have live walkouts for their interim featherweight title fight. O'Connor was in attendance at the historic event as she sang 'The Foggy Dew' for McGregor whilst Mendes was walked out by country singer Aaron Lewis, who sang Country Boy. Pop icon Rihanna was supposed to sing for Jose Aldo's walkout event, but the Brazilian pulled out on two weeks' notice due to injury.
