Ryan Gravenberch would reportedly favour a move to Manchester United over Liverpool if a transfer away from Bayern Munich were to materialise before next month's deadline.

Gravenberch, 21, has fallen down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena and was even tentatively linked with a move elsewhere before the summer transfer window had opened. It is understood that the Netherlands international has plenty of admirers in the Premier League - including Liverpool, who are desperate to bring in midfield reinforcements.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to bring in at least one new player in that position, with Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo now poised to join the Reds. However, Liverpool could still rekindle their interest in Gravenberch before September 1.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are once again pursuing the highly-rated midfield maestro, but they face stiff competition from Manchester United. Furthermore, the report claims that Gravenberch would favour a move to Old Trafford rather than Anfield - potentially forcing Liverpool to change their transfer plans yet again.

Gravenberch's transfer preference comes to light just days after both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia snubbed interest from the Reds to join Chelsea.

And missing out on Gravenberch would represent another significant blow for Jurgen Klopp 's side, who are running out of time to reinforce their engine room after losing both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to the Saudi Pro League.

The Mirror revealed back in April that the Reds had struck an agreement with Gravenberch over personal terms ahead of a proposed summer transfer following private talks with the player's representatives.

However, it now appears as though the former Ajax ace is leaning towards a reunion with his former boss, Erik ten Hag, at Manchester United,

While United are keen on adding another midfielder to their squad, the Red Devils have already spent a significant amount this summer on deals for Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. As a result, Ten Hag is aware that any additional deals will have to be funded through player sales.

United have already managed to bank multi-million pound fees for Fred and Matej Kovar, but more sales will be required if they are to have the financial capacity to prise Gravenberch away from Munich.

It is understood that the likes of former club captain Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams are all free to leave the club this summer for the right price.
