Jeremy Clarkson has been mocked for posting his annual bragging post on A Level results day.
The former Top Gear presenter has kept up his tradition of taking to Twitter - now X - on the important day for many teens since 2014. He always shares the fact he got a C and two Us in his exams 40-odd years ago, but still did pretty well for himself. Every year, the broadcaster makes a point of bragging about a different aspect of his life.
Presumably the car fanatic tries to provide comfort to those who might not receive the grades they hoped for, by pointing out they’re not the be-all and end-all for success, however it has evolved into outlandish bragging over the years. This year, the Clarkson's Farm star wrote: "It’s not the end of the world if your A level results aren’t what you’d hoped for. I got a C and 2 Us and here I am today with my own brewery."

They cheekily replied: "Didn’t see this coming." Another commented: "We have heard." "I wonder what Jeremy Clarkson got in his GCSEs he's never told us," joked someone else. "3 things guaranteed in life: Death, Taxes and Jeremy Clarkson putting this tweet out on exam results days," commented a fourth.
It all started nine years ago when Jeremy tweeted: “If your A level results aren't joyous take comfort from the fact I got a C and two Us. And I have a Mercedes Benz.” The following year, he added: “If your A level results aren't great, be cheered by the fact that I got a C and two Us. And I'm currently sitting in a villa in St Tropez.” In 2016: “If your A level results are disappointing, don't worry. I got a C and two Us, and I'm currently on a superyacht in the Med.”

By 2017, Jeremy’s tweets had graduated from the lifestyle of a rich man to that of an extremely upper class man, as he bragged about having his chef prepare truffles for his breakfast - although the jury is still out on whether that one was entirely accurate. He continued in 2018, tweeting: “Don’t worry if your A level grades aren’t any good. I got a C and 2 Us. And I’m sitting here deciding which of my Range Rovers to use today.”
“A level results a bit rubbish? Don’t worry. I got a C and two Us and I’ve rented this place for the summer,” he tweeted in 2019, alongside a photo of a stunning chateau in Siorac-en-Périgord, France. In 2020, Clarkson tweeted: “A level results not great? Don’t worry, I got a C and 2 Us and I’m currently building a large house with far reaching views of the Cotswolds.” However, in 2021, the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter faced huge backlash after continuing with his annual tweeting tradition amidst the pandemic, which had seen many students forced to study at home for almost the entire academic year.
On results day in August 2021, Jeremy tweeted: “If the teachers didn’t give you the A level results you were hoping for, don’t worry. I got a C and 2Us and I’ve ended up happy, with loads of friends and a Bentley.” One irritated follower wrote: “Teachers are not ‘giving’ grades … this is very misleading.” “Could you change the wording about teachers giving the grades?” another added. “It just makes it sound like we plucked it out of thin air when in fact we have to judge certain criteria to award grades.”
