Woman realises ‘dog’ playing with her pet is actually dangerous wild animal
A woman was absolutely horrified when she realised the 'dog' her beloved pet was playing with was actually a dangerous wild animal.
Sandy Ali was with friends when one of them commented that her dogs were playing together, leaving her baffled as she only has one. She took a look out the window to see what was happening, and was shocked to see it was actually a mountain lion. CCTV footage caught the dog appearing to happily chase the wild cat around outside the house in Morada, California.
Speaking to KCRA, she explains that despite living in the area for several years she has never seen one of the animals so close to her home in Morada, California. She recalled: “I was having a bible study in our rec room. My friend looked out and said, ‘Oh your dogs are playing’ and I said, ‘I only have one dog.’ [The mountain lion] is really beautiful. It just, in one leap, was up in the tree so quickly.”

Owner was grateful for Rocco (Youtube/@WKYCChannel3)She's relatively sure the mountain lion has moved on, she is still grateful to her dog – Rocco — for his good work protecting the yard and for the quick, collaborative response from law enforcement in handling the matter.
Worried about her neighbours she called 911 who sent responders from multiple agencies to try and catch the creature. After failing to tranquilise it it jumped out of the tree and dashed into a nearby field and away.

The search for the wild cat continues and local police San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office has asked people to stay vigilant and to keep their pets indoors. “It was very surprising,” a neighbour told KCRA 3 News . “It was very unexpected.”
Ali was grateful her pooch Rocco for protecting the garden and chasing after the wild cat. "I think Rocco proved that he can take care of himself," she said.

Ali praised Rocco after the alarming incident (Youtube/@WKYCChannel3)In Colorado a video doorbell captured a mountain lion pack prowling through a family neighbourhood. Carolyn Andrews had the shock of her life on April 1 when five big cats were seen casually walking towards her home at around 11pm. The lions were seen prowling her family neighbourhood in Silverthorne, 67 miles west of Denver, where children are often seen playing outside.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife have urged residents to avoid leaving their pets outdoors overnight amid fears the animals could enter gardens and attack them. In addition, they also said children should be accompanied with an adult in the evenings just in case the mountain lions appear. However, if residents are confronted with a mountain lion it is essential to avoid any confrontation and to let the animals escape.
The Park said in a statement: "Do not approach a lion, especially one that is feeding or with kittens. Most mountain lions will try to avoid a confrontation. Give them a way to escape. Stay calm when you come upon a lion. Talk calmly and firmly to it. Move slowly. Stop or back away slowly, if you can do it safely. Running may stimulate a lion’s instinct to chase and attack."
