EastEnders fans 'work out' Alfie Moon affair twist in cancer diagnosis plot
Alfie Moon has received confirmation from doctors that he is suffering from prostate cancer and this could lead to sparks flying with another EastEnders resident as he reaches out to someone close for support.
The beloved character was encouraged to go to the hospital by nemesis Phil Mitchell and fans predict the love rivals will grow close as Alfie's cancer storyline develops.
But, in true EastEnders fashion, Alfie may rekindle his relationship with ex-wife Kat Slater as she fears losing the father of her children.
One Reddit user theorised: "Phil will be Alfie’s rock throughout his diagnosis and the two will form an unlikely bond. Alfie will beat the cancer eventually, although a 'long road ahead'. I think the show will want to show a positive outcome following the storyline with Lola.

Not only will Kat be cheating on Phil, but it will now be an even bigger betrayal due to his relationship with Alfie. I can see Alfie’s guilt intensifying the further Phil goes to support him."

Another EastEnders fan remarked: "I really really hope there is no Kat/Alfie reunion. That would be such a huge step backwards for Kat’s character growth."
"I don’t mind if Phil and Alfie become friends over this storyline but I sincerely hope they don’t use it to bring Kat and Alfie together. It would not be a good move for Kat's character, her and Phil are actually good together whereas Alfie constantly lets her down and disappears leaving her broke looking with the kids," a third agreed.
Meanwhile, another fan suggested Alfie's friendship with Linda, who survived cancer herself, could blossom into something romantic. "I really hope Alfie and Linda get together, I see the spark there, and I really don’t want them to use this diagnosis to break up Phil and Kat! Phil and Alfie’s bond is so wholesome and I really don’t want them to break it," they wrote.
In upcoming scenes, Alfie struggles to process his diagnosis while Tommy begins to ask questions about his dad's health after admitting he saw him head to the hospital.
