Three people 'known' to a 10-year-old who was found dead in a UK family home are believed to have flown to Pakistan on one-way tickets.

The body of Sara Sharif was discovered at a property in the village of Horsell, near Woking, Surrey, in the early hours of August 10 by police responding to a concern for welfare.

Detectives from Surrey Police leading a murder investigation have said they believe three people they want to speak to in connection with the tragedy left the country on August 9, a day before she was found.

All of them were known to the victim, they later confirmed. The people in question have not been named.

Sara's post mortem was due to take place on Tuesday afternoon, but the results - including the girl's cause of death - have yet to be made public.

Today a travel agent in Woking told BBC News that an existing customer had arranged a one-way booking to Pakistan for three adults and five children on the evening of August 8. He said that this was to fly out the next day, and that the person was known to Sara.

As floral tributes began to appear outside the house last week, police said they had begun liaising with 'international authorities' in an effort to track the three wanted people - though police in Pakistan today told the BBC that they had not received any formal approach from authorities in the UK regarding the case.

The latest reports come after Sara's heartbroken mum claimed that her daughter's personality had changed after moving in with her dad. Olga Sharif, 36, claims her daughter's behaviour and habits became noticeably different after Urfan Sharif, 41, was awarded full custody of her and her 13-year-old brother following the break-up of their marriage.

The mum had hoped to raise her children as Muslim and Catholic to reflect both parents' upbringings, and claimed she had been allowed to see her kids only twice since losing custody in 2019. Olga told The Sun: "They would not eat certain things because they are not halal. Urfan said to me that the kids will be Muslim, but I said no, they will learn both religions, not only yours, because they are living in my house. I didn't want to push the kids. I told them if they want to be Muslim they can be Muslim, but they can choose later in life."

Olga, who lives in Somerset, described her daughter as an "outgoing" and "cheeky" girl who had lots of friends at school and was a fan of the Frozen films. She hopes to have her body repatriated to her homeland of Poland for burial, and had been travelling to the country when she was told her daughter had been found dead. Last week, one neighbour told the Mirror that Sara had moved to the area with her family around "four or five months ago", adding: "I have seen that little girl -it's just so heartbreaking."

The Mirror have contacted Surrey Police for comment on the new reports. A statement from the force on Monday said: "Detectives have confirmed that no other people were present at the address when they attended in the early hours of Thursday morning (10 August). The three people they would like to speak to were known to the victim. Formal identification is yet to take place but we understand the child has been named locally. No arrests have been made at this time."
