Brit seaside town 'overrun with feral knife-toting rooftop yobs as young as 9'
“Out of control” yobs as young as nine are said to be terrorising a picturesque seaside town by throwing bottles and stones at people as well as throwing trollies off roof tops.
Paignton, in Devon, is known as a popular holiday destination on the English Riviera and attracts thousands of tourists every year. However the town’s residents say they are under siege by gangs of youths as young as nine or ten who are running amok during the school holidays.
Some say they have been physically attacked by the feral kids while others have witnessed them throwing trollies and other objects from the top of the multi-story car park. Local businessman Martin Bullus, 68, says the kids are “out of control” and know they will get away with their behaviour.
"There has been loads of trouble with kids and antisocial behaviour. I was assaulted about this time last year, they came in here and swore at me and gave me a load of abuse. They must’ve been aged around 10. The whole lot of them just attacked me, I got punched in the face, which split my eye open", he told the Sun.
The incidents can be a lot more sinister than just boisterous behaviour and property damage as county lines drug gangs are said to be targeting kids in the area and shoplifting is a 'daily occurrence' according to one local.

Inspector Chris Lithgow from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Throughout the summer season we have increased the number of foot patrols across Paignton, in recognition of the impact of anti-social behaviour (ASB) both on visitors and shoppers but also to the many businesses and retail outlets." He added the force is also "dealing with youths involved in violent offences through the youth justice system."
Last year it was reported Paignton was in “chaos” owing to the young thugs stealing and spitting at business owners. The locals were said to be reportedly getting drunk, confronting shopkeepers, throwing stones off car parks and assaulting people. A spokesperson for Paignton Police said at the time: "Paignton Police have been receiving numerous reports of gangs of youths causing issues in around Paignton town centre and the sea front area.
"They are stealing, confronting shopkeepers and threatening business owners and acting in a general disorderly manner. We have also received reports of stones being thrown off the top level of the Victoria Car Park. If this lands on anyone below this could cause significant injury. Youths have also been spitting, which again is an offence of assault if this lands on anyone. There have also been several incidents reported on the Pier over the weekend which resulted in a group of drunk females (14-15yrs old) having to be escorted off whilst assaulting staff as they refused to leave.”
