Eagle-eyed football fans believe they have spotted a time traveller watching a football match in the 1960s due to his clothing and modern hairstyle

A photo from 1963, which has been posted to social media, shows Arsenal fans watching their team take on Nottingham Forest in Division One. While a majority are wearing shirt and ties with slicked back hairstyles there's one man who sticks out thanks to his white polo shirt and hoody, as well as fluffy hairstyle while he reads a programme.

Twitter user Retirement in Black & White posted the photo with the caption: "1st Div game around 1963. Trouble is, he's wearing a hoodie, polo shirt, and has a centre parting!" A second added: "Textbook example this one." A third said: "Time travel or photoshop. It’s a toughie."

A distracted third posted: "Didn't you notice the man in the flat cap behind his left shoulder looking at his mobile phone?" But others were not so sure at the theory, The Daily Star reports. One said: "Polo shirts been around since the 1920s." Another agreed: "Probably a Mod with that clobber & haircut. 1963."

Earlier this year, Wrexham fans claimed to have uncovered evidence of time travel with a Ryan Reynolds lookalike in their squad photo from 1878. "We can confirm that's not @VanCityReynolds on the front row," Wrexham later clarified. Reynolds himself then laughed: "You sure? As mentioned, I have an extensive nighttime skincare routine."

A third time travel theory was sparked by a resurfaced photo from the 1962 World Cup where Brazil's captain Mauro Ramos lifted the Jules Rimet trophy. A photographer appears to be holding what resembles a flip phone despite the invention not coming until 1989, 27 years later. However at close inspection the 'flip phone' is actually a handheld box camera among much larger devices nearby.
