Brain training is a brilliant way to boost your cognitive skills while having fun - it's no secret. Whether you prefer optical illusions or a classic quiz, there are all sorts of entertaining games for players to choose from.
After all, it's always fun to challenge your mates. We've all fallen foul to 'just one round', only to blink and find we've been playing for hours. Does that sound like you? No matter if you're a lone player, or serious competitor, we've got the challenge for you - one that could keep you on the edge of your seat for hours.
Excitingly, it comes courtesy of Carol Vorderman. The educator, entertainer and presenter is releasing a new book: Carol Vorderman's Perfect 10 Quiz Book, and in even better news, the Mirror has been given a sneak peak. The following teasers are drawn from two of the 400 questions included in the book, which has been billed as a "daily personal trainer for your brain". Good luck, you're going to need it.
Both of the challenges are sourced from the first quiz, which includes several rounds, just like the Perfect 10 podcast. As the questions are new, you don't have to be a listener to play. However, you will need to pay attention, as the first group of questions is designed to challenge your perceptions, memory, and ability to recognise sequences, according to the book.
First up, we've picked the Memory Game. The idea is to try to retain as much information as you can from the text, before you answer the question. Here it is: "Here we are at the Ilchester Racecourse. Let's have a look at the runners and riders as they approach the starting tape on this glorious day. Closest to the rail we've got Freaky Friday, ridden by veteran jockey, Tony McGuigan. Coming up on his left flank is our youngest jockey, Jules Daley, a tender nineteen years old, atop the jittery-looking Dancing in Pyjamas. Resplendent in the green and gold colours of owner Mrs Claire Lowden we've got Martin Parr on his magnificent bay gelding Horn of Plenty. Martin was last here riding the legendary Pall Mall to the winner's enclosure so we've high hopes for him. And they're off..."

Now, without looking, do you know the name of the youngest jockey? You don't need to be a former Countdown statistician to get it right. Simply answer Jules Daley and collect your proverbial winnings. If you bolted the gate this time, fear not, as you've got a chance to redeem yourself in the form of one of the book's daily riddles. "What can be seen in all the months of the year except for May, June, July and August?" It sounds simple enough, right? But do you know the answer? Stop scrolling if you're still playing.
We're not going to make you wait until the book's release on September 14 to find out, but fair warning, you're really going to kick yourself once you hear the right response. They're all missing the letter R.
