Royals send 'passive aggressive' message to Meghan and Harry amid new careers

The Royal Family are reportedly rooting for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to find success in Hollywood, but one PR expert has warned it might be a "passive aggressive" move.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have entered the next stage of their Netflix deal, having reportedly purchased the film rights for the novel Meet Me at the Lake. The Firm are said to be hoping the couple can turn the bestseller into a Hollywood hit.

However, PR expert Matt Yanofsky believes there could be a "passive aggressive" motive behind the Royal Family's support. He suggested they may be trying to show how Meghan and Harry are "struggling" without them.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, the PR expert and The Moment Lab founder said: "Without knowing the royals, it's impossible to know their motivation. However, 'wishing Meghan the best' is the most passive aggressive public relations speak I've ever read. It sounds like solely PR."

In their previous work with Netflix, Meghan and Harry opened up about their time in the Royal Family. In the docuseries, Meghan bravely opened up about her mental health struggles.

Harry also detailed the breakdown of his relationship with his brother Prince William. The Duke of Sussex said he was left terrified after William "screamed and shouted" at him during the Sandringham summit.

Harry also alleged members of Kensington Palace had then "lied to protect my brother". The Duke of Sussex then took aim at his dad, King Charles and discussed the tense Megxit crisis meeting held with the Queen in January 2020.

It's thought the Royal Family are now rooting for Harry and Meghan's Hollywood success so they can step away from the drama. However, Matt believes otherwise.

He told us: "If you really wanted Meghan to stop mudslinging, this passive aggressive statement is the last statement you'd release. They're saying they wish her the best because they want the public to know she's struggling without the royals."
